Biology Science Topic

Today room 4 students visited the aquarium in Napier to experience some hands on science learning. The students were Marine Biologists and they were able to dissect a fish using the special tools that scientists use.

We learnt how to tell if a fish was a male or female fish. We found the heart, stomach (and the stomach contents), intestines and closely inspected the gills. Everyone coped very well and all the children who went participated.

Thank you to the parents, caregivers and grandparents who transported the children to the aquarium, and helped to supervise them.

Carol is an educator at the aquarium.  She is showing the children a model of the anatomy of a fish.
We are learning about the male fish.
