REMINDERS

We are swimming every day - students are reminded to bring their togs to school please. This is an expected part of the school curriculum. If students are unable to swim, it is expected they have a note to excuse them please.

Remember to return all your library books to school.  Please return any school journals and reading books to school.
Thank you to those parents who were able to attend our Team Mass on Friday.  Thank you if you were able to contribute a food item for the food bank also.

Homework:
There will not be any spelling words sent home this week. Students will have short sharp lessons on spelling this week in class as revision.

All students have free access to Spelling City for 30 days.  Take advantage of this opportunity. It has some excellent resources for reading and writing also.

READING:
Read for 10 minutes + your age every night.  Remember the more you read, the better you’ll get!  Variety is important also.  Choose from a range of different texts such as newspapers, fiction (make-believe), non-fiction (true), journals and chapter books.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE FREE READING PROGRAMME AT THE LIBRARY OVER SUMMER.
This is available at the Hastings, Flaxmere and Havelock North libraries.
Registrations open this week so get in quick!

MATHS:
We are learning about PROBABILITY in maths.  Visit IXL to practise the probability questions.

Keep learning your basic facts too - Remember if you know the basic facts in maths, this helps you enormously when you need to use your strategies!

The free access to MathsBuddy ends at the end of the year.

Homework and Notices

Room 4 Homework - Week 7

Please read for 10 minutes + your age each day.
Use the online maths sites that will support your maths learning - IXL Maths, Studyladder and Mathsbuddy please.

Even if you are not joined up to IXL maths, you can still access 20 free questions each day. The students in room 4 are experienced in using this site, and understand they need to choose questions that will challenge them.

The Inter-school Athletics takes place on Tuesday 24 November for those students concerned. The students in room 4 were told if they are going last week. Notices may be late out due to camp.

We have our Team Mass on Friday 27 November @ 9:15a.m.  Room 4 is organising this Mass.  A donation of a non-persihable food item would be appreciated if able.  Thank you.

Please note:  Students are no longer able to post to their individual blogs.  Our free trial has  expired …

Camp Akitio 2015

Room 4 students have just returned form Camp Akitio.

Although the first day was a little cool (to say the least), we braved the elements and explored the rocky shore and built scuptures using the driftwood on the beach.

We had fantastic weather on day 2 when we visited the sand dunes and a 148 year-old woodshed.

We had a fantastic group of parents on camp with us. They were all very supportive and participated in events alongside the students.

We are very grateful for their help.
